New Rescues

MWHR welcomed Molly to the farm in March. Molly came to us from our friends at Feathered Friends Cockatoo and Horse Sanctuary in AL. Back in December, Feathered Friends saved Molly from a kill pen in LA. We have no history on Molly prior to her arrival at the kill pen so she is spending some time getting acquainted with her new home and then will be evaluated for training. We are still amazed to learn that Molly and Smoochie were born on the same day and year (8/23/2004) in the same holding facility in New Mexico. Needless to say, they have become fast friends.

MWHR welcomed Smoochie to the farm in March.  Smoochie is a 13 year old mustang gelding who was born in a New Mexico holding facility. Much of his history is unknown due to the fact that he is an untitled mustang who appears to have “slipped thru the cracks” of the system. About 2 years ago a lady in SC took him in because he was basically roaming the streets of her small town. She wanted a better life for Smoochie so she asked MWHR to take him so that he could be trained and go on to lead a more productive life. He’s quite small at around 13.3 hands but very well built. He’s smart and a quick learner so we are looking forward to spending lots of time training him.

Ally, welcomed to the MWHR family in early March, is a mustang mare that was surrendered to us by her owner over the weekend. We don’t know much about her but believe she is in her early 20’s and has been ridden in the past. She’s a sweet girl but definitely needs some weight and TLC. She will be getting a visit from the vet and farrier this week. We are so thankful to Ashley and Justin who operate Hope Reins Rescue in Lyons, GA for going to pick her up on such short notice and care for her until she can be moved to the MWHR farm.
