Available for Adoption

MWHR’s adoption program allows interested parties to adopt gentled and/or rideable mustangs into permanent loving homes. Adoption fees range from $150 to $500+ and are determined by the horse’s age, health, level of training, etc. In addition, MWHR also offers a “Foster to Adopt” program to qualified individuals where potential adopters are given the chance to care for the horse while making a final decision on adopting. The “Foster to Adopt” program gives MWHR and the potential adopter the chance to ensure that the horse is a good match in their new home. Please contact MWHR directly for more information on our mustangs available for adoption.

 Smoochie

Smoochie is a 13 year old gelding that was born in a New Mexico holding facility. He has never been titled so he is available for adoption thru the BLM with an approved contract for $125.00. Smoochie stands 13.1 hands tall but has a big barrel that will help take up a longer leg. He’s been started under saddle and is very willing, just green. He’ll make an excellent kids horse with his sweet and loving personality. His conformation and build are excellent with three lovely and naturally balanced gaits. This little guy can definitely excel at any discipline. An approved MWHR adoption application with vet and farrier references is required. Wren

Wren is a 27 year old pony sized mustang mare that was captured in 1991 from the Nevada Wild Horse Range as a 2 year old. She came to MWHR as a result of the death of her elderly owner. She is halter broke and safe to handle on the ground but is not suitable for riding. While a little unsure about people at times, she is calm and sweet and seems to enjoy being around horse knowledgeable children. Wren is currently available for adoption as a pasture companion. She will be adopted out under an adoption agreement with Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue of Georgia Inc. Adopters must be Georgia residents or reside within 4 hours of our facility in Canton, GA. For more information on Wren and her adoption fee, please contact MWHR.

Spark Plug

Spark Plug was captured in 1998 as a yearling during a round up in the Seven Troughs HMA in Nevada. Sparky came to MWHR several years ago with another rescue, Sweetie Pie, and was trained by MWHR Founder – David Hesse. Sparky and Sweetie Pie acted as ambassadors for MWHR until he was adopted in 2014. Unfortunately, Sparky had to be returned to the rescue in April of 2016 by his adopter due to poor health conditions from allergies and breathing issues. Thankfully with lots of loving care and attention, Sparky has rebounded back to good health and is now looking for his forever home. Sparky is fully trained to ride and is best suited as a very casual pleasure horse since he cannot endure a lot of strenuous riding. He requires medication twice per day to help control his labored breathing, as well as other special attention to reduce exposure to dust and mold. He will be adopted out under an adoption agreement with Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue of Georgia Inc. Adopters must be Georgia residents or reside within 4 hours of our facility in Canton, GA.
